Parenting wisdom quotes

1) “It's a huge change for your body. You don't even want to look in the mirror after you've had a baby, because your stomach is just hanging there like a Shar-Pei.”

-Cindy Crawford

A woman is a woman before being a mom. Therefore, when first being pregnant, it's a huge change of one's body. A woman who is pregnant is no longer a body of its own. One must nourish one's baby as they nourish oneself. In the beginning, a woman is no longer a woman alone once being pregnant, for, they are a mom now. This means one should forget being attracted to other men and focus on how to raise one's child. To not even want to look in the mirror after one has a baby, because one's stomach is just hanging there like Shar-pei is a way of saying that a woman doesn't like having a huge tummy sticking out but the beauty of it is the love of her child.

2) “Parenthood remains the greatest single preserve (to keep something safe, protected, or unchanged so it does not get damaged, decay, or disappear) of the amateur.”

-Alvin Toffler

We are all still growing regardless of age or gender. As a parent, in the beginning we all focus on how to be the best example to our children as we raise them. As we live on a parent lifestyle, we used to it and let go of the mentality that we must be the living example to our child. However, when we lose control of this mentality is when everything becomes a mess. Since we are all growing forever, we will always fail our children. This is why parenthood remains the greatest single preserve of the amateur, for, there is no such thing as “once a good parent always a great parent.”

3) “Love is staying up all night with a sick child - or a healthy adult.”

-David Frost

As a parent, our baby cries any time of the given day whenever he or she needs something or wants something without caring about the parent having to constantly check up on him or her. They have no higher brain function at this age to care about such thing. While caring for our children, we as parents must be healthy, in order to be able to take care of our baby. Staying up all night with our sick child is a duty that a parent must endure. Love is staying up all night with a healthy adult represents that without having to take care of one's husband or wife as the baby, because it shows that even though an adult doesn't receive the same care as the child the love still exists, in order for one to stay up all night with one.

4) “The interesting thing about being a mother is that everyone wants pets, but no one but me cleans the kitty litter.”

-Meryl Streep

As a woman, taking care of a baby is like a hobby that one enjoys naturally. However, to clean and replace the baby's diaper is felt to be disgusting unless it is one's own child. Women naturally love children and since they are like children to men but just older, we can see that women and a child are alike in many ways. Cleaning the kitty litter wouldn't only be cleaning the diaper, for, it is the dirty work, such as vomiting and making a huge mess.

5) “We are apt to forget that children watch examples better than they listen to preaching.”

-Roy L. Smith

Kids naturally find preaching to be boring like how they see studying to be boring. We as a parent ought to have the mentality that our children are always watching and that we must be the best example to them. However, many times we forget about this and end up being surprised in how our child has learned about life through them. This goes for both the positive and negative things in life. This is because, nobody lives in a conceptual manner when we ought to, since we live on because we live on.
